Donation to Romsey Gateway Club

Updated: Feb 19

On Saturday 18th June, at the end of our quarterly Quiz Night, a raffle was held in aid of Romsey Gateway Club. More than 20 prizes were donated from local businesses and organisations which included a golf day from Tolchards, beer from Ringwood Brewery and champagne, wines and chocolates from Romsey Conservative Club. The total raised was £400 and on Thursday 22nd September, Club Chairman Dave Maslen had the pleasure of presenting the cheque to Club Members at one of their meetings.

Romsey Gateway Club was established over 40 years ago as a registered charity. The Club is affiliated to Mencap and provides leisure activities for adults with a variety of difficulties. Members are mainly from Romsey, North Baddesley and Totton and live in group homes, with parents or in supported living. The activities they run include crafts, games, music, meals out, cookery, drama and themed evenings and the club also enjoys welcoming interesting visitors and performers. They also organise outings to local attractions such as Marwell, Beaulieu, the Plaza Theatre and Eling Tide Mill, to name but a few.

The Club is run entirely by volunteers and is funded solely by donations. Eric Bellworthy commented “We are so very grateful for this donation which will enable us to continue our work in the future. We would welcome anyone wishing to volunteer (a couple of hours a fortnight) or anyone who has a talent or interest

ing hobby they would like to share for an evening to get in touch with us”.

Thank you to everyone who donated, we really appreciated your support and look forward to another fundraising event soon.
