Romsey Conservative Club Presents £3,685 to Romsey Young Carers following Star-Studded Charity Day

There were smiles all around on Friday 7th November as Romsey Conservative Club proudly presented a cheque for £3,685 to Romsey Young Carers, following their hugely successful Charity Day held earlier in October.

Romsey Young Carers is a much-valued local organisation that provides vital support to young people who care for parents or siblings with a long-term illness or disability. After the charity approached the Club earlier this year for help amid funding cuts and a rise in the number of young carers needing their support, the Committee decided to go above and beyond — organising a full day dedicated to raising both funds and awareness.

Vice Chairman Nick Palmer came up with a winning idea: to host a Charity Day featuring some Ex-Southampton Football Club legends. With a few Saints greats already among the Club’s membership, it wasn’t long before plans took shape — and both members and local businesses threw their support behind the cause.

The day itself was one to remember, with Matt Le Tissier, Andy Cook, Mark Dennis, Leroy Whale, Manny Andruszewski, Nicky Banger, Martin Thomas, Reuben Agboola, Dave Puckett, and James Beattie all joining in the fun. The players spent time chatting with Members and guests, signing memorabilia, playing snooker and darts, and helping to raise money for the charity — much to the delight of everyone who came along.

Thanks to the generosity of Club Members, the ex-Saints legends, and local businesses who donated raffle and auction prizes, the event raised an incredible £3,685 — a fantastic show of community spirit.

On Friday 7th November, Club Chairman Dave Maslen welcomed four Romsey Young Carers and their Manager, Chris Hall and volunteer support Matt Hodges, back to the Club for the official cheque presentation.

“We were absolutely delighted to support such an inspiring local charity,” said Dave Maslen, Chairman of Romsey Conservative Club. “Romsey Young Carers do extraordinary work supporting young people who take on caring responsibilities far beyond their years. The generosity of our members, local businesses, and the ex-Saints legends made this an unforgettable event — and we’re proud to know the funds raised will make a real difference.”

Chris Hall, Manager of Romsey Young Carers, added:

“We are so grateful to everyone at Romsey Conservative Club for their incredible support. The Charity Day was such a special event, and the funds raised will go directly towards providing respite activities and tailored support for young carers across the area.”

The Club is committed to continuing its support of local charities and community causes, and would love to hear from any local organisations that may benefit from future fundraising activities. Please contact them at info@romseyconservativeclub.co.uk.
